7 teams up for discussion today. 3 are clear-cut NCAA teams who’s seeding possibilities are notable. 4 are teams on the bubble: looking outside, in, or right in-between. Bubble discussion will be released on the 26th at 7:00 AM.
I love you Wichita, I really do. However, losing to SMU and Houston will not do you any favors come Selection Sunday. The selection committee also consistently hates on these guys, seeding them a couple seed lines below where one would expect pretty much every year.
Ohio State appears to be a really talented team, led by Keita Bates-Diop. Their wins against Michigan and Michigan State will look far better on RPI record breakdowns by March. No bad losses too, really. Worst one is easily being blown out by Gonzaga, but any game against a tournament team on the road is hard.
Really big wins against UNC and Florida as nearly as good as anyone else’s who are hanging around the 8/9 seed line. However, those are those only wins against tournament teams, while they have two losses against teams out of most people’s fields, Oklahoma State and Boston College.
SO many goods here. 2 great wins, against Kansas and Xavier, both away from Tempe. 2 of the more exciting players in college basketball, Tra Holder and Shannon Evans. The main factor here keeping them from being a 3 seed is bad losses. Colorado, Oregon, and Stanford are all non-tournament teams but yet were able to defeat the Sun Devils by relatively sizable margins, an average of over 7 points.
